Kid's Ikea Kitchen Makeover

I remember seeing several Ikea Kitchen hacks on Pinterest when I was pregnant with Jasper. I actually pinned a couple that I liked thinking that one day we'll have one and I'll decorate it! I decided that once he was able to walk then we can look at getting one... but then Covid came along and scuppered so many plans, Ikea was closed, deliveries were taking weeks and the delivery charge on top just wasn't worth it so we decided to wait. A couple of days later and whilst randomly scrolling through Facebook Marketplace, I find the Ikea kitchen. In perfect condition and just around the corner. We made an offer and Harry collected the next day! It was immaculate and came with cutlery, toy crockery, a toy toaster & kettle and more... all for half the price. Absolutely meant to be.

I sprayed and wiped it all down before letting Jasper have a nosey. He loved it and check out every little detail for ages including that hob light. On. Off. On. Off and on again.

Once he was tucked up in bed, I made a start on the renovation. I didn't want to have to buy anything new for it so I had a rummage through paint pots and found some primer, some white paint, white spray paint and a Farrow & Ball tester pot of Inchrya Blue. I taped bits up where needed which always takes longer than you think, took the handles off and popped a coat of primer on everything. (Including the handles and sink) I screwed the handles onto some cardboard so it was easier to paint and spray paint.

And so... after a couple of days painting when Jasper was napping or down for the night, I was finished! Ta da!

I love it so much! More so than Jasper at the moment but I'm sure he'll love it more when he can reach the utensils and top cupboard on his own. I am going to have to retouch up a few bits and also varnish/seal it somehow to prevent scuffs and paint chipping, but overall I'm thrilled with it.
A great little lockdown project! What do you think?
